Autumn Prime

Autumn definitely comes late here in Scotland. After getting some great autumn colours two weekends ago, this past week has brought even more colour on the scene!

This week during a couple of my lunchbreaks I popped out with the camera to get some photos of the local woodland where the colours were on full display. Here’s a selection:

As the weekend approached I noticed that the wind speed was going to drop to almost ‘still air’ on the Saturday with mist predicted. This presented itself as an opportunity to get out early Saturday morning - and with the amount of rain combined with some frosty mornings, it seems to have brought the autumn colours into their prime.

I first headed over to Loch Achilty - my ‘local’ loch. There were some stunning reflections:

More of the colours!

After visiting Loch Achilty I headed off to Struy to check out the views across the river, which can give excellent reflections in the right conditions.

This is a view of the bridge visible from the road when heading into Contin after leaving the loch:

The road to Cannich was just stunning with the red, oranges and yellows:

Arriving at the location the mist was much heavier, and not so much of the reflections this time, but worth the visit!

A stunning time of the year…
