This morning we were reminded again that it is winter in Scotland when waking up to see a transformation from yesterday’s conditions to the white Narnia-esque surroundings!
It is so great to live beside woodland, especially on days like this. I decided to take the camera with me on Willow’s walk. Rather than taking the 24-70mm lens I opted to take on a challenge of getting a different selection of photos with my rarely used 70-300mm; the lens I bought with my first DSLR many years ago. I put the Panasonic LX7 into my pocket as well, to have some options if needed!
Using a longer lens makes you think a bit more about what shots to take - giving a different perspective of the surroundings:
The woodland was totally beautiful, cloaked in white everywhere you looked.
I took a few photos with the LX7 as well:
Willow was fully in her element charging around the woods - pausing for a photo … just!
Back home the birds were making the most of the feeders - with a sudden breakthrough of sunlight that lit up the long tailed tits in super light.
It wasn’t many moments later that the snow returned:
The rest of the day was much of the same, snow, more snow and snow. We managed to make it out with the car for some essentials including a snow shovel and a 25kg bag of salt! Getting the car back home proved a challenge - in fact not possible, without using the new shovel to make two tracks up the lane to the house! The ‘benefits’ of living on a slope out in the sticks!
As sunset approached it didn’t look like there was any sign of this stopping!
