It has been quite a week with the most snow I’ve seen for many years - see my previous blog. As the week drew to a close the weather forecast looked fantastic for the Friday - clear skies, low winds. The weekend however was due to be cloudy, higher temperatures and it looked like rain the next week.
I really wanted to get out with the camera before the thaw set in. So after managing to book the Friday afternoon as annual leave and clearing the snow off the car I headed off to see how the week’s snow had affected the landscape up north of us.
I was heading for Loch Maree again as well as Loch Torridon if time permitted. The view down Loch a Chroisg was beautiful with some reflections.
When I reached Loch Maree there were no reflections this time but some good views of the overlooking mountains.
However as I returned to the southern end of the loch I noticed some reflections through the trees, so pulled the car over into a small lane off the road and went down to the loch side. What a stunning day.
Continuing onwards and turning up the Glen Torridon road, there were superb views of Ben Eighe
Upper Loch Torridon treated me to a reflection as the sun started to sink towards the golden hour.
Glen Torridon looked great on the return route.
By now the sun was starting to set, layering the surrounding landscape with various shades of orange and pink.
As the light levels dropped I took the final photos of the day before heading home.
It was well worth making the decision to take the afternoon off work before the thaw sets in next week.
