Just like some decisions in life, taking a left turn at the 'fork in the road' instead of the right turn can open up surprising opportunities! It was just like that on our trip to Wast Water, when I took a spontaneous detour down the east side of Coniston Water instead of the more direct route.
The weather that morning was surprisingly good, with a calmness in the air that left the lake like a millpond in places. Travelling down its eastern shoreline was a series of stop/starts; jumping out of the car with the camera and tripod to capture the great views.
From Coniston Water it was a long drive around to Wast Water by which time the weather had turned considerably - still calm in the air but total cloud cover and a fair amount of moisture!
But I'm not one to let a little rain dampen the spirits! Especially when between the showers great reflections were still on show.
