Scotland lochs

Glen Affric Cloud Inversion

It’s been a fairly inactive summer for me in the area of photography and getting out - but as autumn approaches and having to use up annual leave (or lose it) this week gave me an opportunity to get out with the camera on a few occasions.

The autumn colours are probably three weeks away but with very calm conditions predicted on this particular day, I headed off soon after sunrise to Glen Affric with the hope of getting some reflections on the lochs.

On the route there the glen was very misty and it turned out a perfect atmospheric morning to be visiting the area with a cloud inversion up the glen.

The loch itself enshrouded in mist was incredibly peaceful. Very special to be there with these conditions. Here’s a taste of what I experienced soon after I arrived at the car park.

As the temperature rose and the sunlight broke through, the colour started to appear and combined with the reflections was perfection.

The mist finally dissipated and the full beauty of the area was revealed:

Such a perfect combination of conditions to have the privilege to experience. I’m really looking forward to when the autumn colours are on full display and hope there will be a few more days like this one to experience the glen in all its autumn glory.
