October 2024 Highlights

October, in the height of autumn is a beautiful month and this was no exception. It’s been a while since putting a blog together so I thought it best to share some of the highlights of the month, covering different opportunities with the camera both at home and out and about in the Highlands.

The month was filled with a whole variety of opportunities to enjoy the beauty of nature and God’s creation, ranging from super views of the Milky Way at home with Comet C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan-ATLAS), auroras, and local birdlife - here’s some examples:

The local woods were a splendour of colour this year.

Here’s some photos from a trip up Glen Cannich. Although the weather was very overcast, the reflections were stunning.

When it comes to autumn colours, not much beats Killiecrankie and the surrounding area when on full display.

We had a stunning aurora during the month as well - unfortunately the local weather didn’t give a chance to capture such great photos as previous opportunities I’ve had. Also it being a work night I didn’t want to stay up until the wee hours of the morning this time! I was able to get some record photos of it which was more than I expected.

And to finish off here was the full moon, some rainbows and another different aurora night.

Plenty of memories to hold of another great month.
